Hello Maywong,

The liquid latex I've used has a petrochem solvent - use outdoors or forced ventilation. Use it at the consistency of dairy cream. It firms up in a half hour at 70 degrees F, during which time it shrinks the slight amount, and conforms to the object. Over Marx knight armor the "rivet heads " will show as bumps when dried. I usually make three dippings or brushings for "plate" armor, separated by 45 to 60 minutes between applications. Then let it cure over night. The shaped result is almost as stiff as leather, can be cut, sanded, or drilled. Abbreviated tutorial in "Apprentice Guild" sub-forum here on FantasyNet.

It does appear that ScottE's materials and method would be superior for your application.
